Are Women to Blame for Men’s Porn Problems?

Are Women to Blame cincinnatichristianBlog.com

Recently, we saw this title of an article in a Christian Publication, “Are Women to Blame for Men’s Porn Problems?”

Well, since I’m a man who, before I gave my life to JESUS, engaged in activities that would be considered the plot line of most pornographic movies, and who, from time to time, would watch porn (although it’s rare for someone to “just watch” porn, isn’t it?), I believe I have a background on this particular subject.

Are women to blame for men’s porn problems?

The short answer to the question is “NO, NO, NO, a thousand times NO”. And to really emphasize where I’m coming from, here is the word “NO” in other languages;

Russian – Niet

French – Non

German – Nein

Hebrew – Lo

Swahili – Hapana

Chinese – Bu

Sometimes a ridiculous question deserves a ridiculous answer, and this question was “begging for it”. Now as to my answer to the question being “NO”, here are the reasons;

#1 The Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-11 NKJV)

Eve is engaged in a conversation with a “talking snake” which, in and of itself, is alarming. Women should avoid conversations with “talking snakes”. Granted, this may drastically affect the number of conversations that they have, but they should always chose quality over quantity.

Adam was right there the whole time. Adam heard the entire conversation. How can we determine this? Because the union was so powerful between Adam and Eve that it wasn’t until Adam ate the fruit AFTER Eve that, “… the eyes of both of them were opened.” (v7). Notice also that all three were addressed by the Lord God one right after another (v12-19). So Adam was present during the entire conversation and heard it.

The Lord God arrives and asks Adam a direct question in verse 11, “…Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” The answer from Adam is very interesting from a historical perspective. This is the first time in history that a person, “passes the buck”, “plays the blame game”, and uses the “victimization defense” all at the same time!

Verse 12 Adam says, “The woman…”, passing the buck, blame game, Eve’s fault, “… whom You gave to be with me,…”, passing the buck, blame game, God’s fault, “… she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” In other words, Adam is saying, “I was just standing here, hungry, minding my own business, when this beautiful naked woman walked up to me, and using her feminine charms, seduced me into eating the fruit. So I’m just a victim, caught up in the actions of YOU, God, and of YOU, Eve.” That is the “victimization defense”. More often than not, these particular excuses are summed up in “God made me this way” statement.

#2 A shocking discovery

I don’t really know if people are aware of a shocking discovery. Now we don’t want to scare anybody so, brace your selves, pornography has been around for a very long time. Now, just be cool, relax, breathe deeply, everything is going to be alright. We realize that this is a “shocker” to many Christians. The first time a man found out that he could paint something on a cave wall, you don’t really believe the first thing he painted was a cow, do you? And if he was a teenager, he probably wore off the fingerprint of his index finger by painting.

In the ruins of Pompeii, they found lots and lots of “dirty pictures” on the walls of the brothels. Since Pompeii was founded sometime around 600 or 700 years BC, we now know that pornography has been around a very long time. And no, men didn’t go there to look at the “dirty pictures”.

#3 MEN – STOP BLAMING GOD, and in this case women, for YOUR PROBLEMS.

I’m a man who’s never had this happen. Maybe other men have, and I’m just not aware of it. I’ve never had someone point a gun at me and say, “If you don’t watch this porn, I’m going to shoot you.” Before JESUS became my Lord (boss, master, God, etc.), I had a number of occasions where guns were pointed at me and I was ordered to do something along the lines of, “Keep your hands where we can see them… ”, but never ordered to watch porn. But hey, that’s just my experience.

#4 MEN – Here’s how to stop looking at porn.

First off, call it what it is, instead of making it sound innocent. You’re not just “looking at porn”, at least not always. There is far more involved in this activity than just your “eyes”. Other parts of your body are also involved, aren’t they? We believe that’s enough said on that subject. You get the picture. Yes, that’s an intentional pun.

Go to the book of Romans, that’s in the New Testament, chapter 6:11-19, and DO WHAT IT SAYS TO DO ! It’s really quite amazing that we have a book, that’s called the Bible, that tells us the answer to every problem that we face. The reason is because the author, that would be God, has all the answers to all the problems. It’s part of His job description. If all of us would spend just half the time we do eating food, studying the New Testament, our very lives would be transformed.

In conclusion, stop blaming others for your own shortcomings and DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM. Or in other words, “Man up” and take responsibility for your own actions. Quit believing that, “There is nothing that I can do to change anything”. That’s a lie from the kingdom of darkness, that far too many of us have believed, for far too long.
