WHAT IS THE NUMBER ONE CALLING OF THE FIVE-FOLD MINISTRIES?

Five Fold Ministry www.cincinnatiChristianBlog.com

The # 1 calling of anyone who goes by the title – apostle – prophet – evangelist – pastor – teacher, is to bring people into a relationship with JESUS according to the New Testament pattern. I’ll say it again because apparently the vast majority of Christians don’t seem to understand this. THE # 1 CALLING OF ANYONE WHO GOES BY THE TITLE – APOSTLE – PROPHET – EVANGELIST – PASTOR – TEACHER, IS TO BRING PEOPLE INTO A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS ACCORDING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT PATTERN.

What is the New Testament pattern? Get people’s attention through the power that is in the name of JESUS. How? By using His name to heal the lame, heal the blind, heal the deaf, and cast out demons. You know, less talk and more actions. Then, after you’ve got their attention, tell them to stop running their own lives. There’s a word for that, it’s called “REPENT”. You then tell them about how JESUS died on a cross for everything that is wrong in their lives and how God raised Him from the dead to prove to them that He exists. And that He wants them to allow Him to be their Father. There’s a term for that also, it’s called being “born again”. You then invite them to make a verbal commitment. After they make a verbal commitment, and this is where they vast majority of churches and ministries in America have “dropped the ball”, you baptize them IMMEDIATELY in water in the name of JESUS . Then, as they are coming up out of the water, have them to ask JESUS to baptize them with the Holy Spirit. And then watch what happens.

In the Name of Jesus

Gosh, I really wish that someone, somewhere would write all this down. Hey, wait a minute, someone did. It’s called the book of Acts. See Acts 2:41, Acts 8:12-13, Acts 8:35-38, Acts 9:18, Acts 10:48, Acts 16:14-15, Acts 19:5.

The # 1 problem with the church in America is the leadership of the church in America. Not all of them, but most. Any organization, group, business, or sports team that has incompetent leadership will have very little impact in their chosen field of endeavor. The incompetence of leadership will flow down to all levels of that organization. The church in America is no different.

The reason that so many Christians don’t know how to lead someone to JESUS, using the New Testament pattern, is because the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers don’t know how to. You can not teach others something you do not know how to do.

This is changing. God is bypassing the pulpits and going directly to the so called “pew sitters”. And, just like the book of Acts, so called “ordinary sheep”, are starting to be used by God in extraordinary ways. How’s that for a “prophetic statement”?

Now many, especially leaders, will disagree with this assessment. And that’s fine. But, I have two simple questions for them. Why were you so shocked, saddened, and completely taken by surprise over the “same sex marriage” decision by the Supreme Court? A number of “sheep” saw this decision coming years ago. Why didn’t they?

    1. Bad Wolf,

Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to comment on this particular post.

You will notice we said the “number one” calling is to bring people into a personal relationship with God the Father through JESUS His Son. As a matter of fact, it is the “number one” calling of ALL who go by the term “Christian”. And if you think about it, what was the number one reason that JESUS came to Earth in the first place? It was, and still is, to bring people into a personal relationship with God the Father. As a matter of fact, JESUS is referred to as the “first born” in Romans 8:29 and Colossians 1:15 & 18. This same idea is expressed in Hebrews 2:10-13 & 17.

Speaking from the viewpoint of someone who has been around “ministers” for a large portion of my life, I can tell you the majority of the clergy that I have known, have very little experience in leading someone to JESUS. Yet if you look at all the ministers in the New Testament, they all started bringing people to JESUS, and continued to do so throughout their lives. Their calling, whether it was apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, or teacher was secondary to their first calling.

Unfortunately, not all but many of those who go by these titles today seem to have forgotten the word that most closely describes “minister” is the word “servant”. And it certainly does appear as if many, but not all, are more interested in being “served”. Sadly many have too much pride to be concerned with leading people to JESUS. Expressions such as “God doesn’t use me that way”, “It’s the sheep’s responsibility to reproduce” or “It’s not my calling”, are quick to come out of their mouths. They apparently have been called to be a leader, but have never really learned how to be a follower (again, most but not all).

In the coming weeks, months and years we are going to hear about some pretty amazing things that God is doing through ordinary people (you know the ones who consider themselves to be servants). We will see the fulfillment of what Peter spoke about on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:16-21).

So, fasten your seat belt, make sure your seat back and folding trays are in their full upright position, it’s going to be quite an amazing journey.
