In our modern day world often times we are presented with “facts” that upon closer examination are not really “facts” at all. More often than not, they are the perceptions, or the “facts”, as the speaker sees them. But we are going to share with you an undeniable fact. Now there will be those who, for whatever reason, will deny this fact. They will not believe that this event is going to occur. But it’s going to occur whether they believe it or not. You know some folks, for a very long time, believed that the earth was flat. They did not believe that the earth was round. Well, even though they believed that the earth was flat, that didn’t make the earth flat. There are other people who really and truly believe that there is not a God. Guess what? They believe that for right now but in the not too distant future they’re going to find out, unfortunately for them, just because they believe that doesn’t make it a fact.
We said all this to make a point. YOU, the reader of these words and all other human beings who have ever existed, will stand before Him. Contrary to some people’s opinion, He’s not looking for reasons to send people to Hell. It’s easy to get that impression from those who “follow” Him. But He’s not. Every person is made in the image and likeness of God. The tragic fact is that the vast majority of us never experience the abundant life that JESUS came to give us. John 10:10b “…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” And that was one of the motivating factors that moved us to start this Website/Blog.
So what has been standing in the way of experiencing the abundant life that JESUS came to give us? Now the answer to this question might make some people uncomfortable (I wanted to use the word mad, but my wife wanted to use the word uncomfortable. She is far more diplomatic than I am.). The fact is simply this, the “religious hierarchy” that gets up in front of a group of people every Sunday and tells those people what somebody told them or what their experience has taught them. Mark 7:8b “… For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men…” Mark 7:13 “making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do.” Now we are not saying that everyone who gets up in front of a group of people is wrong. And we are not saying that they are doing this with the intent to spread misinformation. And we are DEFINITELY not saying that they are all “false prophets on their way to hell”. What we are saying is that a large part of what they are saying, or not saying, is keeping you the Christian, from the abundant life that JESUS suffered, died and rose again to bring you. And that is enough to bring us to tears. Or in other words, it’s a crying shame, literally.
We are going to assume a few things about you, the reader. We are going to assume that you love God. We are going to assume that you love JESUS. We are going to assume that you want to bring others into this love affair that you have with HIM (JESUS). It’s a pretty safe assumption if you have read this far, it’s fairly obvious that you do!
Here is the point we are trying to make. YOU are made in the image and likeness of God. YOU are intelligent. God, YOUR Father, is also intelligent. YOU really and truly don’t have to rely on someone else’s idea about what He wants to say to YOU. The mission of all true Bible teachers is to lead YOU to the truth. That is exactly what the greatest teacher did. JESUS taught people the truth. He did it in such a way that it was easy to understand by EVERYONE, at least by everyone who wanted to know the truth. The best label to put on JESUS would be “lay minister”. None of the apostles made their living as a “professional minister”. By the way, the word “minister” means servant. Not to be served.
All we are doing is to present to you, the reader, the New Testament as we currently understand it. You may agree or you may disagree. That’s your choice. But we know this to be true, that all of us when we stand before Him will have regrets over WHAT WE COULD HAVE DONE. And here’s another fact, most Christians are living so far below what the Father wants to do in their lives, and they’re not even aware of it. Hopefully, with HIS help, we can change that. 1 John 5:4-5 “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”
