As humans many of us have a fascination with the future. It is one of the many things that set us apart from animals. Many Christians are really fascinated by it. That’s understandable since many of us can readily see, in both Old and New Testaments, God saying something was going to happen and it did. Just that one ability, among many others, to foretell events that will occur in the future and then those events occur, sets the Bible apart from all of the other books that various religious groups follow. The other books may have, let’s use the word “interesting” viewpoints, but when it comes to a proven track record, the Word of God tells us the outcome of the race while they’re still waiting for the race to start.
Now if you are like us whenever someone starts talking about “prophecy” and the “end times”, your eyes want to roll so much that they might develop motion sickness. But we don’t do that in front of the person who started to talk about this subject. That would be rude. We wait until they walk away and then we roll our eyes. Don’t misunderstand us Biblical prophecy has its place in our understanding of God. We are not demeaning the subject of “true” Biblical prophecy, BUT REALLY? We all know that Jesus is coming back to the earth and it is going to be in the next 50 years. But in all honesty, how many teachings, movies, books, DVDs with workbooks, prophecy conferences and TV programs dealing with prophecy do we need? How many more times is the moon going to turn to blood to get our attention? We who are in the family are already paying attention. That should spur us on to bring even more people to Jesus. We should not just sit back and wait for the “rapture”. Oh, and here’s a thought, what if all the “experts” are wrong about the timing of the “rapture”? But that’s another post.
Now, if you have read this far you might have gotten the mistaken idea that we don’t give a lot of credence to what main stream, conservative, Christianity has to say about prophecy. That’s not really true. Our biggest problem with it is that a lot of it is too vague. It has been so generalized that just about anything could be taken as “signs” of His immediate return.
Since we don’t have any financial investment in what we are about to say, please carefully consider what we are about to share with you. We are not saying that we’ve heard this from the “mouth of God Himself”. All we are doing is passing along what has been impressed upon us. We could be so far off the mark that we don’t know how to spell the word “mark”. On the other hand, we would be remiss if we didn’t pass along what has been impressed upon us.
Here is what has been impressed upon us about things that are going to happen:
RUSSIA IS GOING TO TAKE OVER ALL OF UKRAINE
If you have any family, friends or ministries that either you or your church supports you need to make them aware of this very real possibility. If this occurs, Russia is not going to stop with just Ukraine. Russia is going to “re-acquire” all the former Soviet Union Republics. And unfortunately the EU, UN, and the USA are not going to stop them. There will be a lot of speeches condemning Russia. There will be more sanctions imposed. But the end result will be a lot of words but no action.
THE UNITED STATES WILL NOT BE INVOLVED IN ANYMORE MAJOR WARS
The United States will not be involved in anymore major wars such as Iraq, Afghanistan and others too numerous to mention, outside its own borders. Yes, there will be periodic training, advisors and Special Operations, but no major deployments as in times past. On the contrary, we are going to withdraw from the world stage, even though we say we aren’t. Yes, we are.
There is going to be a financial upheaval in September of this year (2015). This is definitely going to affect ALL the world’s economies, including ours.
RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA USE WILL BE LEGALIZED
Recreational marijuana will be legalized in most, if not in all, the United States within 3-5 years. The reasoning will be, you might as well sell it and tax it in order to continue to fund the various local, state and federal governments. There are already 3 states at the time of this post that this is occurring with this same reasoning.
HARDER DRUGS WILL BE DE-CRIMINALIZED
In some areas the harder drugs, i.e.; heroin, cocaine, meth, etc. will be so de-criminalized that you will just get a ticket for using them. Just like marijuana is NOW a misdemeanor (depending on the amount).
GAY MARRIAGE WILL BE THE LAW OF THE LAND
People can yell and scream all they want but gay marriage is going to be the law of the land. On the surface this sounds like a horrible thing and many people would consider it to be horrible. But what the vast majority of our Christian leaders do not understand is that gay marriage was legal in the Greco-Roman culture. And this is the culture that the church was born into and empowered to reach. But many of our Christian leaders are not aware of that either.
ABORTION IS THE LAW OF THE LAND
Abortion has been legal in America since 1973. If it was going to be made illegal it would have been made illegal a long time ago. Anybody anywhere who tells you to support them in order to stop abortion is either one of two things, badly misinformed or deceitful. It is not going to be made illegal. Abortion has been around ever since the days of ancient Egypt. And that is not going to change. If you want to do something about abortion, support places that help women to have their babies and give them a good life. And also support those young mothers as well that do the right thing. That’s love in action.
ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY (CATHOLIC / PROTESTANT / EVANGELICAL / PENECOSTAL / CHARISMATIC / LIBERAL AND CONSERVATIVE) IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO BE LESS RELEVANT THAN IT ALREADY IS
Here is our definition of the term “Orthodox Christianity”. Orthodox Christianity has been defined by some type of statement that supports, depending upon what church or denomination that one considers themselves a member of, the truths that are in the Bible. The biggest problem with Orthodox Christianity is that one can mentally agree with certain tenants of the doctrinal statement of their particular church but they are still the same person on the inside. There’s never been a change of their heart. They’ve never been born again. They don’t really KNOW JESUS. They know about Him, but they don’t KNOW HIM.
The biggest difference between a “religion” and a “relationship” is simply this; in a religion one attempts to come in contact with God, in a relationship one knows God in an intimate way. And make no mistake if one does not know the Lord JESUS Christ in a personal way, one does not know God.
One day I was asked a question, “Do you know why more Christians don’t tell others about JESUS?” The one asking me the question I knew had heard all the other answers I had given in times past as to why this didn’t occur. Answers in the past were, “Well, they are too afraid to. They are afraid of what people will think of them.” Or “They don’t believe that they are qualified i.e.; they are not a minister.” Since I knew all the answers I’d come up with in the past were incorrect, my response was simply, “OK. Why don’t Christians tell others about JESUS?” The answer was shockingly simple, “They don’t have anything to tell. The one that you are married to, you know how old they are, you know their parents, you know what their favorite color is, you know what their favorite hobbies are, you know what kind of music they like, you know what kind of food they like. You also know what they don’t like. If someone was to ask you about them, such as when is your anniversary, when is their birthday, what school did they go to, you could answer all those questions and more. The reason you could answer all those questions, plus many others, is because you know them. And that’s the reason they don’t tell others about JESUS. They have nothing to tell.” Like I said, it was shockingly simple.
What do we mean when we use the expression “less relevant than it already is”? What we mean by that expression is that the vast majority of churches are not teaching people what they need to learn in order to solve the problems that they face on a daily basis. Here are a few examples; how to receive physical healing for both themselves and their loved ones, how to get out from under a mountain of debt, and how to get what they pray for. Most churches aren’t teaching this. Hence, what most churches are teaching isn’t relevant to the people who come to the church looking for real answers to real problems.
We are living in a time when just being religious isn’t going to work anymore. It hasn’t worked very well up until this time anyway. Orthodox Christianity unfortunately is a very poor imitation of New Testament Christianity. It has become a mere religion. That is the sad news.
Here’s the exceptionally good news. THE LAST AND GREATEST MOVE OF GOD THAT’S GOING TO OCCUR ON PLANET EARTH, BEFORE THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS, IS GOING TO COME FROM THE PEOPLE IN THE PEWS OF ALL CHURCHES. THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE FOLKS IN THE PEWS NO MATTER WHAT CHURCH THEY GO TO LOVE JESUS, LOVE GOD AND LOVE PEOPLE. AND THEY ARE THE ONES THAT WILL BE USED MIGHTILY OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DECADES.
Again, we are not saying that we’ve heard this from the “mouth of God Himself”. All we are doing is passing along what has been impressed upon us. This is not meant to scare anybody but rather it is meant as an encouragement to you who love JESUS, love God and love people. You are on the right path!
